Web Pointers
Here are some easy ways to make your site more
professional and useful ...
Your visitors expect to be able to click on
your logo in the upper left of each page to get back to your home page.
Don't disappoint them.
Don't forget the breadcrumbs ... those 'You
Are Here' strings that tell your visitors where they are - and how they
got there.
Only a small percent of your visitors will
scroll down a page, so be sure the important stuff is 'above the fold.'
Your web pages should be all about your
visitors - not all about you.
Great book title on web design: 'Don't Make Me
Think.' Make it super easy and intuitive to get around.
The biggest companies have the smallest logos.
Huge 'Look at me!' headers keep visitors from what they came for.
Put a search engine on your site so your
visitors can find they're looking for. Usually the search box goes in
the upper right corner.
Keep your design simple and direct. The design
should not get in the way of your content.
Most websites use fonts that are too small,
making them hard to read - for older adults especially.
Don't
annoy your visitors with useless intro pages. Get them right to the
stuff they came for. |
